The first edition of this collection written by members of Horatio Austin’s 1850-51 Franklin Search expedition. Inscribed on the half-title: “Erasmus Ommaney, Captain of HMS Assistance personally discovered the first traces ever found of Franklin’s missing ships—23rd Augt. 1850. / published onboard HM Ship Assistance employed in the Arctic seas in search of the missing ships under the Command of Capt Sir John Franklin in A.D. 1850-1851” in an elderly hand. Arctic Bib. 651 (refers to 2nd ed); Lande 926; Sabin 1924 (incorrectly lists date as 1851); TPL 3128. Octavo (214 x 134mm).
