I have written to him to ask him to grant us an appointment to sign our contract]'; he wishes to see Scribe beforehand; one page, 8vo , integral address leaf, docketed by recipient. The work referred to may be Donizetti's last completed opera, Dom Sébastien, roi de Portugal , with a libretto by Scribe, which was first performed in Paris, 13 November 1843: its deeply melancholic score was dismissed as 'a funeral in five acts'.
