DON LARSEN PERFECT GAME BALL Mr. Lewin attended the 1956 World Series as a reporter for the New York Mirror and witnessed the perfect game pitched by Don Larsen in the fifth game. That performance by Larsen was the most outstanding post-season performance in the history of baseball. Following the game, Lewin obtained a game ball from Frank Crosetti and had it autographed by Don Larsen and the opposing pitcher, Sal Maglie. The ball is inscribed To Johnny, my best wishes Don Larsen (Johnny is Mr. Lewin's son.) Mr. Lewin then had the art department at the Mirror print The Perfect Game - 1956 World Series on the baseball. The lot is accompanied by a notarized letter from Mr. Lewin and a letter of authenticity signed by Don Larsen. The only known ball from that game signed by both pitchers. The ball shows game use and is in excellent condition.
