[Dodgson (Charles Lutwidge), "Lewis Carroll".] The New Belfry of Christ Church, Oxford. A Monograph by D.C.L., first edition, first issue without "Stacy" in imprint, half-title lightly foxed, modern red morocco, Oxford, James Parker and Co., 1872 § Collingwood (Stuart Dodgson) The Life and Letters of Lewis Carroll first edition, plates and illustrations, original cloth, gilt, spine faded, 1898 § Arnold (Thomas Kerchever) A Practical Introduction to Greek Prose Composition. Part I, sixth edition, with ink signature of "[?] Dodgson June 12th 1849" to front pastedown written over in darker ink, original cloth, spine faded, 1846 § [Newmarch (C.H.)] Recollections of Rugby, by an Old Rugbaean, first edition, tinted lithographed frontispiece, advertisement leaf at end, original pictorial cloth, gilt, spine faded, 1848; and another on Dodgson, 8vo et infra (5) ⁂ It is tempting to wonder whether the third mentioned could have been Charles Dodgson's copy although the signature is very difficult to decipher. He was at Rugby School from 1846-49 (during which time the last item was published) and would most likely have been familiar with Arnold's textbook which was used at many public schools at that period. It was not a particularly happy time for him but he did excel academically, especially in mathematics.
