An interesting lot of fifteen documents or letters dated from 1771 to 1779 with interesting content noted throughout, viewing recommended. 1771 document relating to Discharge of complex legacies arising from the death of Thomas Melvill (Melville) who, as Governor of Cape Coast Castle at the Gold Coast from 1751 to his death in 1756, had been the Administrator of the British Slave Trade from that area; a letter from Langley (cousin of Sir Herbert Jenner Fust; a letter from Sir Cave Stanford Hall Leicestershire about the error in an order of Queens pattern porcelain attached is an illustration of the tureen he wished to order; a letter from Cath. Burton to her dear brother dated 1776; 1777 ALS by Sir Stanier Porten who was Keeper of the State Papers, but more relevant was that he was private secretary to Lord Rochford when the latter was Ambassador Extraordinary to France (1766) and Secretary of State (Northern) 1768-1770). A letter by Jonas Hanway philanthropist who travelled from London through Russia to Persia, and through Russia, German, Holland and another G. Colquhoun 1779 with a complete black wax seal. -
