Title: Document signed by George Walton as Chief Justice of the state of Georgia, being a summons for a court proceeding having to do with debt Author: Walton, George, Signer from Georgia Place: [Savannah, GA] Publisher: Date: c.1783-5 Description: Partially printed document filled out in ink. 30x18 cm (11¾x7"), framed along with a portrait under plexiglass. Overall 46x49 cm (18x19¼"). George Walton (1749-1804) signed the United States Declaration of Independence as a representative of Georgia and twice served as governor of that state. He was also a U.S. Senator from Georgia, Chief Justice of the state, a congressman, and a colonel in the First Georgia Militia during the Revolution. Due to the size and/or weight of this lot extra charges may apply. Lot Amendments Condition: Minor toning to document, a bit of rubbing to edges of the frame, very good. Item number: 252067
