Document on vellum signed by General George Monck (“George Monck”) appointing Charles Fairfax to the rank of Colonel and Captain in Monck’s Regiment of Foot, embossed wafer seal, folding creases, browning to margins, oblong 8vo, 1660; Letter signed by General George Monck (“George Monck”) to (“My Lord”) ‘concerning the business of the Lord Lockart’ and giving his opinion that ‘hee bee persuaded to come over (among his Majesties attendants)’, on paper watermarked with a rose, folding creases, paper cut at lower margin, St. James’s, 10 May 1660; and 2 others , one a 16th century document counter-signed by William Cecil (“W. Bughley”) on verso, the other a letter signed by William Hicks (“Wll Hickss”) to Mr. Burton about the payment of a debt of ‘tenn pounds’, 1 April 1664 (4)
