Rare and unusual document revealing the strength and influence of the many Chinese fraternal societies in Cuba. There are over twenty-five signed inkstamps of the societies, on the letterhead of the Union de Sociedades Chinas de Cuba, Organizadoras de Homenajes al General Tsai Ting Kai. The general, soon to visit Cuba, was revered for leading the "heroic resistance of Shanghai, China" in 1932, during the Shanghai Incident, a brief conflict between the Republic of China and the Empire of Japan that took place in the Shanghai International Settlement, then under international control. Lot Amendments Condition: Some darkening and soiling, a few chips around the edges, a 1½x2" piece torn from first page; good to very good. Item number: 308486
