DOBBS, BAILEY & CO. An embossed and pierced paperlace valentine card, stamp marked Dobbs, Bailey & Co., with a satin centre applied with hand-coloured flowers, leaves and birds drinking from a gilt fountain, the surrounding verse reads 'Let other tokens boast their pride/Accept this humble gift from me/Bright blooming flow'rs that grow beside/The fountain of my love for thee', laid down on card, 9 x 7¾in., c. 1846; together with a cameo embossed card stamp marked Dobbs Patent , with an original pencil drawing of Hastings from the Bexhill Road, 3 x 4½in., c. 1840's; and another cameo embossed card stamp marked Dobbs, Kidd & Co., 8 x 5in., c. 1860.
