Purgatorio. Paradiso. The Florence of Dante Alighieri. (Folio) 35x22.5 cm (13¾x9", original full vellum, spines ruled & lettered in gilt, raised bands, top edges gilt. No. 58 of 250 copies. Presentation copy, inscribed and signed in the Florence volume by printer John Henry Nash to Edward F. O'Day, his friend and associate and author of "John Henry Nash: The Aldus of San Francisco." Nash's splendid printing of the Divine Comedy, perhaps the most sought-after work from his press. With bookplates of Louis E. Goodman on the front pastedowns. Also included are two copies of the elaborate prospectus volume, bound in marbled boards (one of these with trace from removed bookplate, the other with offset to endpapers). Lot Amendments Condition: Normal minor discoloration to vellum; a few instances of very faint foxing within; near fine to fine. Item number: 281801
