This is generally regarded as the first Mickey Mouse, and marks Donald Duck's first appearance in print. [Laid-in:] letter from Walt Disney Studions stating "We would imagine that the smaller, dust-jacketed copy is probably the first [binding variant], since it is a little more elaborate. With the success of the book McKay may then have gone to the sturdier buckram-type binding with the pasted-on illustration [and later the flexible boards, see following lot]".
