(7 1/8 x 11 1/2 in), under glass, repaired tears and some areas of abrasion, damp-stained and light browning, unframed, [circa 1780-1800s] Provenance: Ex-collection of David Padbury ⁂ The lady in the lower right bears a likeness to an etched portrait by Robert Dighton the Elder, the sitter of which is purportedly the artist's first wife, Letitia Dighton [for an impression see BM no. 1850,0810.123]. The young central gentleman appears to be somewhat derivative of Robert Dighton the Elder's etched self-portrait of 1779.
