Half-titles, engraved frontispiece, engraved vignettes on titles of text vols, 2578 (of 2580 plates), folding tables. (A few tears, occasional light browning, staining, spotting and marginal worming. Text vols: lacking vol. VII, title in vol. V and a few blank leaves. Plate vols: lacking plate 109 in vol. V and plate 134 in vol. IX.) Contemporary mottled calf, title on morocco label on spine, spine gilt (extremities rubbed, occasional scuffing and chips to spine ends). Provenance : Cocehaquets? (inscription on vol. This first Italian edition was printed in French with overlapping dates to the French first edition published in 1751. It was edited by Lucchese Ottaviano Diodati and it follows the Geneva pirate edition. The present copy is sold with two of the supplement volumes to the text (vol. II and IV) and the supplement volume to the plates (vol. XII with 215 plates). These supplementary volumes were first issued in this second edition and were published in Amsterdam and Paris: M.M. Rey, 1776-1777; Panckoucke: 1777. Printing in the Mind of Man , 200; Graesse II, 389; Brunet II, 700. (30)
