Browne (plates rather spotted and browned, and in some cases shaved at margins), half title, modern blue morocco gilt by Bayntun, upper cover stamped in gilt with cameo portrait of Dickens, lower cover stamped with his signature, spine gilt in six compartments with raised bands, gilt inner dentelles, g.e [Eckel p. 64; Smith p. 40]; David Copperfield , London, Bradbury & Evans, 1850, 8°, FIRST EDITION IN BOOK FORM, etched frontispiece, additional title with date and 38 plates by H.K. Browne (lacking half title, fragment of tissue adhering to plate of "Steerforth and Mr. Mell" opp. p. 70), modern blue morocco by Bayntun, similar in style to the previous vol. [Eckel p. 77; Smith p. 76]; and 5 other first editions by Dickens, similarly bound by Bayntun. (7)
