Etched frontispiece, vignette title-page and 38 plates by Hablot K. Browne ["Phiz"] (some occasional spotting, some plates darkened at edges). Original blue-green pictorial printed wrappers (some soiling, some chipping along edges and spines, most spines rebacked, a few wrappers repaired); green cloth folding case. FIRST EDITION IN ORIGINAL MONTHLY PARTS, the vignette title-page with the signpost reading "100", but the errata with 14 lines. "The Chuzzlewit Advertiser" present in all parts (missing only in part 11), as well as most of the inserted advertisements called for by Hatton & Cleaver. Hatton & Cleaver, pp.183-212; Eckel, pp.71-73.
