Autograph letter signed ('Charles Dickens') to [the author and mesmerist] Thomas Bardel Brindley, Tavistock House, 26 December 1851, 'I am much obliged to you for your kind note, and for the curious incident to which you call my attention. Pray allow me to reciprocate all your good wishes', one page, 8vo , bifolium (some soiling, folds reinforced on verso), the second leaf window-mounted.

The information with which Dickens has been supplied may be in connection with his journal Household Words , which he had founded in March 1850. It was in December 1851 that he published the first of the celebrated extra 'Christmas Numbers'.
