DETECTIVE COMICS Nos. 224, 227, 228, 229, 230 * Lot of 5 Comics Provenance: DC Universe Collection Publisher: DC [Indicia: National Comics Publications, Inc.] Date Published: 1955-1956 Description: #224: Good (2.0). Spine stress, mild spine roll, creases, a few short tears, staples pulled, distributor's rubberstamp, pencilled distributor's mark. Cream to light tan pages. #227: Good (2.0). Spine stress, short tears, edgewear, cover detached at bottom staple, 1" spine split. Cream pages. #228: Fair/Good (1.5). Spine stress, mild spine roll, staples quite pulled with cover just barely hanging on and likely to detach, staple rust, several spine splits, tears, creasing, soiling, small chips. Cream pages, light tan edges. #229: Good- (1.8). Spine stress, transverse tears to spine, staples pulled, creases, a few tears, dogeared corner, ink scrawl to front cover near Robin's bottom leg. Cream to off-white pages. #230: Good (2.0). Spine roll, spine creases, staples pulled, staple rust, 1" tear to front cover, 2 back cover chips. Off-white pages. Cover pencils and inks: Win Mortimer, Dick Sprang, and George Roussos. Stories and art: Dick Sprang, Charles Paris, Sheldon Moldoff and Bob Kane Note: At the buyer's discretion, this lot of raw comics can be submitted by PBA to CGC for grading and encapsulation with a "DC Universe Collection" provenance designation on the labels.
