2 parts in one volume, 4to (202 x 154mm.), text in two sizes of italic type, double-page woodcut map of the Vaucluse, with blank leaves Cc4 and [2]g10, old limp vellum, occasional light browning, hinges broken, lacking two pairs of ties
The first Vellutello edition of Petrarch, containing the first new commentary since Squarzafico's of 1484. While based on the Aldine edition of 1501, Vellutello reorganised the sequence of poems and added a surrounding commentary (both the text and the commentary are in italics). He also travelled to Avignon to research Petrarch's life and the identity of Laura, and added a map to depict the area to the east of Avignon where Petrarch had spent his early life.
This volume contains the Sonetti and canzoni in the first part, and Trionfi in the second.
