Provenance : Anatole de Demidoff (San Donato library stamp and case-labels) -- Paul Pavlovich Demidov (binding, stamped cipher; by descent to:) -- HRH Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia. FIRST EDITION, THE DEMIDOV COPY. Svin'in, the anonymous author, had joined Russia's first permanent embassy to the United States in 1811 as secretary to Consul General Andrei Dashkov. RARE: WorldCat lists no locations outside of Russia. With 3 others works with similar provenance, in French or Italian, and in contemporary bindings: Il Finto Chimico (Florence 1686); Vicini's Egloghe (Paris 1764); and another. (4)
