Della Valle P., "Viaggi di Pietro della Valle il Pellegrino in tre parti, cioe la Turchia, la Persia e l India", Roma, 1662. Second edition, first part dealing with his travels in the Levant (Turchia), the other two volumes (published later) cover Persia and India. Complete the part for the Levant: title, engraved portrait, [22], 436p., [36], contemporary full leather rubbed, some scattered light waterstain, overall in good condition. The travels of Pietro della Valle started in 1614 from Venice. He traveled and stayed in the Ottoman Levant and Persia for 12 years. He married a Circassian lady who followed him in his further travel up to her death in 1622. His travel accounts are among the very first of the golden age of traveling and provide unique information. It is written in a form of letters to the physician Schipano in Napoli. The Italian original editions are considered very rare. Atabey 1269, Blackmer 1712 (for the French edition)
