DELEUZE, Joseph Philippe François (1753-1835). History and Description of the Royal Museum of Natural History , translated by A. Royer. Paris: for A. Royer, 1823. 8°. 3 folding engraved plans and 14 plates, half title (repaired tear in title, occasional light soiling and spotting). Contemporary brown straight-grained morocco, gilt spine, wide gilt border and blindstamped border round sides (extremities very lightly rubbed). Provenance : [Sir] George Head, travel writer and translator of the classics, PRESENTATION INSCRIPTION from Dr. [Thomas] Hodgkin, physician, pathologist and quaker, after whom Hodgkin's disease (the chronic systemic disorder manifested chiefly by the enlargement of the lymph nodes) was named (inscription in Hodgkin's hand on title-verso 'To George Head with Dr. Hodgkin's kind regards'). Together with another volume. (2)
