Christie Miller (sold Sotheby's, 12 March 1923, lot 211). FIRST EDITION. This second part of the play is believed to have been written soon after the first part, for which Henslowe made payments in 1604. It was entered in the Stationer's Register on 29 April 1608. The first part was the romantic story of two lovers, Hippolito and Infelice, who, like Romeo and Juliet, are separated by feuding familes. Unlike Shakespeare's lovers, they are reunited after Infelice recovers from a sleeping potion. In the second part, the courtesan Bellafront falls in love with Hippolito after the supposed death of Infelice. Greg 267; Pforzheimer 278; STC 6506.
