In Congress, July 4, 1776, The Unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen United States of America. [Washington: Peter Force, 1848]. Copper engraving on rice paper, approximately 30.75 x 27.9 inches. Short closed tear (approx. 2 inches) at top margin affecting two letters in "Congress," some faint offset, very brief separation at centerfold intersection, several creases, but else a fine, fresh example. With: Force, Peter, editor. American Archives: Consisting of Authentick Records, State Papers, Debates, and Letters and other Notices of Publick Affairs, the Whole Forming a Documentary History of the Origin and Progress of the North American Colonies; of the Causes and Accomplishment of the American Revolution; and of the Constitution of Government for the United States, to the Final Ratification Thereof. Washington: M. St. Clair Clarke and Peter Force, 1837-1853. 9 volumes (all published). Comprising 6 volumes in the fourth series and 3 volumes in the fifth series. Illustrated throughout with facsimile documents. Folio (348 x 220 mm). Original brown calf over marbled boards, one volume rebacked. Some faint foxing, covers worn with some boards detached.
