Numerose illustrazioni silografiche nel testo, 13 a piena pagina; diagrammi. Manca, come in molti esemplari censiti, la piccola tavola silografica applicata a completamento, alla carta R4r. Esemplare in discreto stato di conservazione, uniforme brunitura delle carte, numerosi aloni, fioriture; tracce di polvere, in particolare al frontespizio. Segni d'uso. Gora al margine inferiore dei primi e ultimi fascicoli. Restaurati i margini superiore (con ricostruzione di alcune lettere) e inferiore del frontespizio; mancanza al margine inferiore della carta X3, senza perdita di testo. Strappetto alla carta Y1, a ledere leggermente la silografia al verso. Legatura moderna in pergamena su piatti in cartone. Dorso liscio, contropiatti in carta marmorizzata. Al frontespizio la nota di possesso di antica mano 'Ex lib. Bernard. [?] ICti Viennensis'; di altra mano l'annotazione di carattere filologico a margine della carta K3v. Prima edizione di questa importante collezione di testi classici latini di agrimensura, curata dai filologi francesi Pierre Galland (1510-1559) e Adrien Turnèbe (1512-1565), entrambi professori presso il Collège Royal fondato da Francesco I. L'edizione dei testi si basa su un codice scoperto tra il 1544 e il 1545 dagli stessi Galland e Turnèbe nella biblioteca del monastero di Saint-Bertin a Saint-Omer. Il volume è riccamente illustrato, e di particolare interesse sono le tredici silografie a piena pagina che illustrano il commento di Aggenus Urbicus a Frontino. Loss to the lower margin of fol. X3, not affecting text. Short tear to fol. Y1, slightly touching the woodcut on the verso. Modern vellum over pasteboards. Smooth spine, marbled pastedowns. Early ownership inscription 'Ex lib. Bernard. [?] ICti Viennensis', on the title-page; a later hand had added an annotation on the margin of fol. K3v. First edition of this remarkable collection of Roman writings on land surveying techniques, edited by the French philologists Pierre Galland (1510-1559) and Adrien Turnèbe (1512-1565), who both lectured at the Collège Royal established by King Francis I. Galland and Turnèbe relied their edition on a codex they had discovered in the library of Saint-Bertin monastery, in Saint-Omer. The publication is richly illustrated, and especially noteworthy are the thirteen full-page woodcuts featuring Aggenus Urbicus' commentary to Frontinus' work on surveying.
