(8vo) original green cloth, stamped in gilt and blind. Custom chemise and red morocco-backed slipcase. First Edition. Accompanying the volume is a group of 5 lithograph proofs, including a trial version of "Ascertaining the Weight" that differs substantially from the finished illustration. A congenial account of more than twenty years fishing in the Tweed, one of the great salmon rivers of Great Britain which drains the border regions of Scotland. Scrope compares favorably with Walton in his gift for anecdote, and also conveys a goodly amount of practical instruction concerning the making of flies and the finer points of salmon fishing in this classic work.
