Property from the Sporting and Travel Library of Arnold "Jake" Johnson[DAVIES, HENRY EUGENE, GENERAL]Ten Days on the Plains. New York: Crocker & Co., [ca. 1872] 8vo (10 1/8 x 6 3/8 in.; 258 x 162 mm). 68pp. letterpress text, folding lithographed map; some creasing and closed marginal tears to map, closed tear to title-page, minor toning. Original cloth-backed glazed boards; rubbing to boards. Davies' account of General Sheridan's famous buffalo hunt during the fall of 1871. Buffalo Bill was their guide and large trophies were awarded. The account was then privately printed and distributed to friends of the hunting party, which was comprised of prominent Chicagoans and New Yorkers.
