Title of vol.1 printed in red and black, 4 engraved frontispieces by F. Fampicoli after F. Pontebaso, engraved dedication to Empress Elisabeth of Russia by Conte Cristoforo Zapata de Cineros with her portrait by Magnini, and 4 plates in vol.1, 107 engraved plates by F. Giampiccoli, J. Magnini, F. Rizzi, B. Crivelli and others after F. Fontebasso, G. Zompini, G. Schiavoni and G.F. Marcazzi, engraved head- and tailpieces and initials, with cancelled leaves F2 in vol.2, 2A2 in vol.3 and Y2 in vol.4 part 2, folding genealogical table and final errata and penultimate blank in last vol. (Some leaves very slightly soiled or spotted.) 19th-century Italian vellum, spines gilt in 6 compartments with green lettering- pieces (slightly soiled), red edges. This edition, dedicated to the Empress Elizaveta Petrovna of Russia, was edited with commentaries and notes by Pompeo Venturi and Gio. Antonio Volpi. G. Morazzoni, in Il Libro illustrato Veneziano del Settecento (Milan, 1943), p.225 describes this edition as containing frontispieces, a portrait of Elizabeth of Russia, a dedicatory leaf, a leaf of medals, the tomb of Dante, and a plate to each canto, with head- and tailpiece, the vignettes being anonymous.
