Cologne: heirs of Arnold Birckmann, 1555. 8°, woodcut device on title and 53 illustrations in the text by Holbein (top margins cut quite close affecting one headline slightly, occasional light soiling and discolouration). Early 20th-century brown morocco, gilt turn-ins, gilt edges (hinges and corners very slightly marked). Provenance : Christopher Stubbes (early 17th-century calligraphic signature at foot of A7r). A copy of the 1547 Lyon, Frellon, edition and one of two printed at Cologne by the heirs of A. Birckmann in 1555. Adams D 76; cf. Brunet III, 257.
