Lot of 11, including four quarter plate portraits and seven sixth plate portraits. Highlights include sixth plate portraits of an older man in a striped vest credited to Bailey; a scholarly looking young man, identified as Samuel B. Craft (1816-1899) by Weston, New York, NY; and young man with long, thin nose and a pocket watch chain, with brass mat stamped "Moses / Sky-Light." Also with two Anson portraits showing a bearded man wearing patterned pants and smiling slightly, as well as a young man seated in profile with elegantly-styled hair. Among the other identified photographers are S. Broadbent; Cooley, Springfield, MA; Holmes, New York, NY; Van Loan Gallery, Philadelphia, PA; H. Wendell, Albany, NY; and E.S. Wykes. All housed in full pressed paper or thermoplastic cases, one with full separation at spine. Provenance:Marvin Lieber Collection of Early Photographica Condition: Condition varies. Profile portrait with scratching that obscures subject's mouth. Others with areas of tarnish and spots.
