(light dampstaining in the last ff., some contemp. ms. annot.). Contemp. blind-stamped pigskin over wood, covers orn. with roll-stamps (with the Evangelists and their symbols) and central panel stamp (with the Annunciation and the Baptism of Jesus by St John the Baptist), spine with raised bands, metal brass and clasps, red edges (very sm. defects to binding). Nice copy. Second edition (1st: Venice, of this history of the First Crusade by the Italian jurist, humanist and historian Accoltus (1415-1464), who became Chancellor of the Florentine Republic in This book is said to have furnished the famous Torquato Tasso with the historical basis for his "Gerusalemme liberata".
