CRESCENTIIS, PETRUS DE. De Agricultura vulgare. (Venice: [Giovanni Rosso and Bernardinus Vercellinus?], 6 September, 1511. 4to, 208 x 148 mm., 18th-century mottled sheep, very worn, upper cover nearly detached, occasional dampstaining, some marginal soiling, a few leaves browned . Fifth edition in Italian, full-page woodcut on verso of title of scholar and students, 36 small column-width woodcuts in the text, including 11 repeats, of animals and scenes of husbandry, hunting, fishing, etc., woodcut initials. Essling 844; Harvard/Mortimer Italian 141; Sander 2237. Kenneth K. Mackenzie; Horticultural Society of New York, bookplate. The small woodcuts were previously used in the Venice 1495 edition, some having been cut for that edition, others taken from other sources (including one cut from the Merlmi Bible); the cut on the title verso was used in Tacuino, Synonima , Venice 1507.
