CRESCENTIIS, Petrus de (ca. 1233-ca. 1320). Opus ruralium commodorum . Strassburg: [Printer of the 1483 Jordanus de Quedlinburg (George Husner)], 9 March 1486. Chancery 2° (287 x 208mm). Collation: π 6 a 8 b-y 6 z 8 (π1 title, π2r prefatory letter by the author to Aimericus de Placentia, dedication to Carolus II of Anjou, chapter headings, a1r text, z7v colophon, z8 blank). 144 (of 148, x2-5 supplied in contemporary manuscript) leaves. 46 lines and headline, double column. Type 1:160G, 2:99G, 3:91G. 3- to 6-line initial spaces with printed guide-letters. (Small hole in v6 and y1 affecting one letter, occasional staining.) Contemporary German panelled blind-tooled calf over wooden boards, spine on three raised bands (head and foot of spine worn). Provenance : Armorial of a Tower arg. on gules painted in border of f.2.; Bolzano, Tyrol, Franciscan convent, 18th century bookplate. Fifth edition of the first printed book on agriculture.
