cover 1852-68 A splendid collection of entire letters, entires, envelopes and wrappers (110 items) which, according to the founder's notes, were bought during the 1920's, included are many scarce and colourful frankings, of particular note are the following: ½b. on grey pair + 4b. pair on 1855 entire, ½b. on violet vertical pair + 2b. on 1862 entire, 1b. diagonal and vertical bisects on "manifesti", 1b. + 2b. on insured entire from Poggio Mirteto, 3b. strip of four (cut into) on 1859 entire, 4b. (3) on 1852 insured entire, 5b. postal forgeries (2) both cut small as usual on separate entires, 6b. on lilac horizontal pair on 1866 entire, 7b. pair + 1b. on 1862 entire, 8b. (3) + 1b. on 1863 entire, imperf 2c. (2) on separate circulars, imperf. 5c. + 10c. + 40c. on 1868 envelope, imperf. 80c. + perf. 5c. (2) + 20c. on front, perf. 10c. horizontal strip of four on 1869 front, perf. 20c. magenta + 40c. on 1869 envelope, perf. 20c. red-brown + 40c. on insured envelope, perf. 2c. on printed circular and perf. 80c. on 1870 insured envelope, some faults/defects but very rare. Inevitably the condition is very mixed, but a good percentage are fair to fine and the whole represents a fine opportunity for the student of rates
