cover 1662-1786, the collection of entires and entire letters, including the very fine study collection of the Bishop mark, neatly mounted in date order, showing use in the 1660's (7) with 1662 "IV/23" superb on letter from Dublin, and later "first types" to 1709 (23) and second types 1714-86 (21). Other handstamps include town marks from 1706 with "OXFORD", "NORWICH" and framed "BRACK/LEY"; 1770 "PENNY/POST/PAID" for "S/FR"; 1772 "SOUTHAMPTON/SHIP LRE" from Jersey, etc. Mainly selected and attractive examples from an interesting range of correspondences, with many fine strikes. Also a copy of "The Ship Letter Stamps of Hampshire" by Alan Robertson. (51 items)
