(COSTELLO, FRANK) Group of 10 photographs of mobster Frank Costello, "The Prime Minister of the Underworld," who led the Luciano crime family (later called the Genovese crime family), one of the Five Families that operated in New York. Includes a mug shot and 9 photographs from his trial. Silver prints (9 ferrotyped), sizes ranging from 2 3/4x4 5/8 to 7 3/4x9 1/2 inches (7x10.2 to 19.7x24.1 cm.), and the reverse, the mug shot with an identifying caption on a later mount recto, and with various labels and stamps on mount verso; the rest with captions, in pencil, newspaper clippings (indicating the photographer's name), and various stamps, labels, and notations, on verso.
