Chicago: Reilly & Lee Co., [1951]. 313 pp. 8vo (230 x 170 mm). Illustrated by “Dirk” [Dirk Gringhuis]. Publisher’s blue cloth, pictorial label, pictorial endpapers. Condition : hinges starting, covers slightly rubbed; jacket missing front flap, tears to front panel, spine panel chipped. Provenance : Fred M. Meyer Collection. first edition, first issue; dust jacket listing titles of the Oz books on the back flap through The Hidden Valley of Oz . When Jack Snow failed to come up with a third Oz Book, Frank O’Donnell accepted this story by the novice writer. She went on to become a prolific writer of historical romances and science fiction. [With:] Reilly & Lee Books. February 1954 . [Chicago: Reilly & Lee, 1954. ] 28 pp. 4to (215 x 150 mm). Publisher’s two-color self-wrappers. Condition : minor wear. Publisher’s catalogue with an early announcement of The Hidden Valley Oz but with a different cover design (p. 19); also tipped in on p. 7 is an “Important Message” concerning the postponement of Who’s Who in Oz that was originally announced for publication in 1952.
