Zt. mit reicher Rvg. u. 2 farb. Rsch., goldgepr. Deckelfileten u. Stehkantenvergoldung, Gelenke gebrochen, gering berieben, beschabt u. fleckig.
2 vols. First edition of what is considered to be the most important of Cook's voyages during which he explored for the first time the Antarctic Continent. - Complete with all engr. plates and maps and the portrait, the latter cut to the caption. Leaf Ll4 transposed to the end of vol. 2, somewhat browned, faint off-setting in places. Bound in contemporary calf, spine richly gilt and with 2 coloured labels, hinges cracked, faint rubbing, wearing and staining.
