Continental School, 19th Century Study of Heads and Hands. Unsigned, initialed "PWB" and "W..." in pencil on the reverse, attributed to D. Francisco Bayeu y Subias (Spanish, 1734-1795) in an inscription on the back of the mat. Black and white chalk on gray laid paper (no watermark), 10 3/4 x 8 5/8 in., framed. Condition: Mat burn, foxing, creasing, hinged to back mat in two places along the top of the reverse. N.B. Although the drawing was attributed to Bayeu y Subias in an inscription on the mat, the age of the paper suggests this work dates from the 19th century.
