An oversize broadside apparently printed to serve the dual role of poster and enlistment contract for seamen who wish to serve as privateers. Spaces are provided for the listing of seamen, the vessel and its captain (all blank in this example). The text lays out seven conditions for privateers, who certify that they will "be subject to the rules and discipline of the American Fleet as established by the Congress," and the Continental Congress's resolution of 15 November 1775, specifying rules for the fair distribution of prize money according to rank, with special prizes to be paid to a sailor who "first discovers a ship" and to one who "shall first board a ship...making resistance."
