.65 caliber, 36" barrel, NSN. Curious composite rifle comprising of what appears to be a Harpers Ferry 1816 rifled musket barrel marked with "LS/P" and "US" with 1827 date on breech plug. Richmond rifle lockplate marked "C.S./RICHMOND, VA." along with 1864 date, and fitted with U.S. Model 1855 rifle musket hammer. Stock appears to be from a later model U.S. Trapdoor Springfield rifle. Buttplate is of iron with offset screw. Barrel band is of a British type with "(CROWN)/8" marking. Condition: Relic condition. Lock functional. Bore is dark with old corrosion and worn rifling.
