Title: Complete run of the San Francisco Bulletin for the year 1906 Author: ** Place: San Francisco Publisher: The Bulletin Date: 1906 Description: San Francisco's Bulletin newspaper from January 2 to December 31, 1906, bound into four large volumes. Each approximately 500 to 700 pages or more. Illustrated from photos, ads, etc. (Folio) 21x16½, bound in period gray-green-beige cloth, rebacked with matching cloth, with black-lettered spines laid down. The entire 1906 San Francisco Bulletin newspaper (except January 1), containing every issue covering and discussing the Earthquake and Fire that devastated the city that year. The quake hit on April 18 at 5:12 am and along with an ensuing fire, most of the city was destroyed and the estimate death tolls ranged from 700 to 3000 (possibly more). Formerly in the Bancroft Library, University of California, Berkeley, with their bookplates on the front pastedowns. Lot Amendments Condition: General rubbing to exterior; two volumes with entire text block detached from covers; paper extremely fragile with chips and tears mostly to beginning and ending leaves (chipping to second volume edges throughout), contents darkened; still a good set with important and original source material.
