The seventh volume is for the 94 beautiful colored plates. Occasional foxing and browning on some pages, good specimen.
Valuable Parisian edition. The work is a collection in 6 volumes, plus the seventh concerning color plates, which deals with various themes to which the Count of Buffon dedicated himself. The first volume refers to the General Subjects and to the Theory of the Earth. The second volume is the second part of the themes dealt with in the first volume. In the third we talk about mammals, with the second part of the topic dealt with in the fourth volume, while in the fifth and sixth we are talking about birds. Buffon's naturalistic work and his theories would have inspired successive generations of many naturalists, especially the evolutionists Jean-Baptiste Lamarck and Charles Darwin.
