Beschreibung:

Colt Model 1883 Accles feed drum magazine marked "PAT. DEC. 18. 1883.". The drum is made entirely of brass and was designed to hold 104 rounds of .45-70. These Accles feed magazines were effective when clean, however it was too fragile for the stress of field use. If dirt was introduced to the drum, it would obstruct the rotor from turning and something as minor as a small dent in the walls of the drum could disable it completely. These drums are quite scarce, as the US military retired them from use and converted their 1883 model guns back to using the Bruce feed system due to the inadequacy of the Accles system. This example features a side mounted carry handle. CONDITION: The exterior brass displays a nice dark gold patina with scattered scratches and blemishes while the interior rotor exhibits similar patina with scattered areas of rust and pitting. The mechanism rotates properly and the anti-rearward rotation catch also functions correctly. Overall very good. JLD Item Dimensions: 11" x 10 - 1/2"
