Beschreibung:

A large collection of WWII Second World War German Third Reich POW Prisoner of War letters and postcards. The letters dated between 1944-1948 are from a German solider imprisoned in Camp Robinson, Arkansas USA and later under French captivity in Cherbourg. All letters are addressed to his parents. The young soldier in one letter mentioning his age of 24, details his daily routines, work as an electrician, living conditions, weather and other aspects of his prison life. One example translates: May 2, 1945 - Dear Parents, The current war situation may mean that i haven't received any mail from you since the beginning of April. By the time this card reaches you the Nazis will certainly have gone to the four corners of the earth and the postal service will work again. The time has finally come when i can write down my real thoughts and don't have to think about any censorship office. Another letter will follow soon. Stay healthy and many warm greetings. Rudi
