Title: Collection of printed leaves, including one from Suma de Arithmetica Geometria Proportioni [et] Proportionalita Author: Place: Switzerland, Germany, France, and Italy Publisher: Date: 1474-1935 Description: 27 leaves, all printed in black ink on paper. Some leaves with decorated initials, illustrative woodcuts and rubrication. Various sizes. Inserted in custom-made book, with vellum binding made of an original antiphonal leaf. 45.6x63.6 cm (14x20"). The collection includes many noteworthy leaves: One leaf from Suma De Arithmetica Geometria Proportioni [et] Proportionalita, by Lucas Pacioli, sometimes regarded as the first encyclopedia of pure and applied mathematics. 1st edition, 1494. Three leaves from Postilla super totam Bibliam, by Nicolaus de Lyra. He was one of the earliest initiators of Humanism, that lead to the Renaissance and later on the Reformation. It is said that: "If Lyra had not harped, Luther had never danced." Two leaves from Reductorium morale, by Petrus Berchorius, a description of nature, the visible and invisible world, among other themes. One leaf from Etymologicum Magmun, by Zacharias Calliergi, an extensive Greek etymological dictionary. This edition from 1499, was one of the most important in Byzantine literature. Also interesting for its unparalleled woodcut initial, a specialty of Calliergi's. One leaf from Scriptores Rei Rusticae, by Lucius Junius Moderatus Columella, about agriculture in the Roman Empire. ​And many more.
