Lot of approx. 450 Civil War patriotic covers and a few sheets of stationery, unused. Includes both color and black-and-white covers, cartoons, flags, portraits, and more. There is a "Bird's Eye View of Alexandria Va." that takes up about 2/3 of the front; a "Lincoln and his Cabinet" encircles the area for the address on another cover; a view of Camp Dennison (near Cincinnati) is printed in red and takes up the entire cover; many flags take up the entire cover; there is a cover depicting the struggle between Eastern and Western Virginia - one of the "subplots" to the conflict. About half are sorted into broad categories: England- John Bull (many satirizing England's continued purchase of cotton from the South); Washington (George); Battle Camp scenes; Jefferson Davis; negro/contraband; Col. Ellsworth; flags; Lincoln (4 covers in 3 designs); states; Gen. Scott; Fort Sumter; covers printed in Cincinnati; Union and Confederate covers (5 covers in 4 designs). There are duplicates of several designs (appear to be the remains of a package of covers - some with a half dozen, a couple with twice that). Condition: Unused, most fine.
