Collection of leaves from decorated and illuminated medieval manuscripts, in Latin on parchment [thirteenth to fifteenth century] 20 leaves, comprising: (a) leaf from a Psalter, 18 lines of an angular early gothic bookhand, 2 illuminated initials on each side on blue and pink grounds, joined by a text bar in margin, some scuffs and cockling, 122 by 87mm., Low Countries, first half of thirteenth century; (b) leaf from another Psalter, 18 lines in a small and precise gothic bookhand, initials in liquid gold with red and blue penwork, linefillers in same, modern pencil fol. no. ‘194’, 120 by by 90mm., Low Countries (probably northern Netherlands), thirteenth century; (c) leaf from a Bible (parts of Psalms 96-102), double column, 41 lines, one-line initials in red or blue, larger initials in same with contrasting penwork, one large variegated blue and red initial filled with acanthus leaves in red penwork, 185 by 128mm., Italy (perhaps Bologna), mid-thirteenth century; (d) two leaves from a copy of Pseudo-Albertus Magnus, De Laudibus Beate Marie Virginis, double column, 40 lines, red rubrics, initials in red or blue, the larger with contrasting penwork, red penlines in margin connecting various passages to each other and to small glosses set in red boxes, 185 by 125mm., France, thirteenth century; (e) two leaves from a Missal, double column, 29 lines, capitals touched in yellow, red rubrics, initials in red or blue with contrasting penwork or liquid gold on blue and pink grounds, 170 by 116mm., probably Spain, early fifteenth century; (f) leaf from a monumental Breviary, double column, 32 lines, red rubrics, initials in red or blue with contrasting penwork filling upright margins, 360 by 248mm.
