Diverse collection of ancient printed leaves, from the beginning of Hebrew printing (Incunabula) and soon thereafter (post-incunabula). 15th/16th centuries: · Two Chumash leaves with Targum Onkelos and Rashi commentary. [Híjar (Spain), 1490 printed by Shlomo Zalmati]. · Two leaves from Arba Turim [Choshen Mishpat, Simanim 299-306]. [Soncino, c. 1490, printed by Shlomo son of Moshe Soncino]. · Leaf section from Nevi'im Achronim, Yeshayahu. [Lisbon (Portugal), 1492 printed by Eliezer Toledano]. · Three Chumash leaves with Targum, Rashi and Ramban commentaries. [Salonika, 1521 printed by Yehuda Gedalya]. (Leaf of Parshat VaYechi and two leaves of Parshat Shelach). · Three Chumash leaves with Rashi commentary and Targum (translation) into three languages: "Aramaic (=Onkelos), Arabic (=Tafsir Rabbi Se'adya Gaon) and Persian". [Constantinople, 1546 printed by Eliezer Soncino]. · Two leaves from the book of Daniel with Rashi commentary. [Salonika, 1515. Unknown printer]. · Leaves of Hilchot Rav Alfas [Constantinople, 1509 printed by the brothers David and Shmuel Ibn Nachmias]. Six leaves from Tractate Pesachim and three leaves from Tractate Berachot. · Two leaves and three leaf sections from a Chumash with Haftarot. [Firrera, 1554 printed by Avraham Ibn Oshki]. The leaves are from the part of the Haftarot. · Approximately 7 leaves and fragments of printed leaves from unidentified editions [15th/16th centuries]. Leaves from the Babylonian Talmud printed by Daniel Bomberg in Venice: · Three leaves of Tractate Yevamot: 61, 71-72. [Venice, 1522. Bomberg printing, first edition]. · 27 leaves of Tractate Nedarim: 21-25, 27-30, 32-37, 39-43, 50-62 (+ a section of Leaf 63). [Venice, 1522. Bomberg printing, first edition]. · 32 leaves of Tractate Betzah. Leaves: 20-23, 25-52. [Venice, Bomberg printing, second or third edition]. On Leaves 51-52 are Hilchot HaRosh and Perush HaMishnayot L'HaRambam. Approx. 100 leaves and leaf fragments. Size and condition vary. Provenance: The Sassoon family collection.
