VARRO, M. T. Opera omnia quae extant. Cum notis Iosephi Scaligeri, Adriani Turnebi, Petri Victorii, at Antonii Augustini. His accedunt Tabulae Naufragii, seu Fragmenta ejusdem auctiora et meliora additis ad singula loca, autorum nominibus unde haec petita sunt. Amstelodami (apud Ioannem Ianssonium) 1623. 8:o. Engraved title, last leaf with woodcut printer's device. Contemporary vellum, slightly worn, somewhat darkened spine. Contemporary annotatons on first endpapers. Overwritten signature on half title. Marcus Terentius Varro (116 BC - 27 BC) was an ancient Roman scholar and writer. He is sometimes called Varro Reatinus to distinguish him from his younger contemporary Varro Atacinus. His only complete work extant, Rerum Rusticarum Libri Tres (Three Books on Agriculture), has been described as "the well digested system of an experienced and successful farmer who has seen and practised all that he records.
