Coleridge's sons: "Given to Mr. William Heathcote from the Library of Sir John Taylor Coleridge at Heath's Court by his direction and with his love. John Taylor Coleridge began studying mathematics at Oxford, but soon came under the influence of George Leigh Cooke who encouraged him to persue classics. He was called to the bar in 1819, but directed his attention for some time to literature, contributing to the "Quarterly Review" and befriending Wordsworth and Arnold. Since John Taylor Coleridge died on 11 February 1876, the Easter inscriptions to Heathcote on the flyleaves at front and back are presumably in the hand of one of his sons, John Duke or Henry James Each number has a newspaper revenue stamp, except number 13 which was inserted later.
